AIDE AUX ELEPHANTS CAPTIFS / HELPING CAPTIVE ELEPHANTS

The sanctuary has made important repairs for Lucky’s well-being, including insulation, sand deliveries, and emergency repairs totaling 4,920 CHF. Upcoming costs focus on replacing fences, covering her shelter, securing food supply, and reinforcing security. Donations and volunteer efforts are crucial for ongoing support and sustainability as financial reserves are lacking.
The newsletter highlights efforts to improve conditions for captive elephants in Nepal during the challenging monsoon season. The elephants face extreme heat and inadequate hydration, receiving only a few buckets of water daily. The dedicated team is working on innovative solutions to enhance the well-being of these animals.
Lucky has been rescued and is now safe after being threatened with sale to India. Our founder, Lena, bought Lucky despite financial strain, with community support raising $17,000. Grateful for the donations and encouragement, we invite ongoing support to continue our efforts in helping animals like Lucky. Thank you all.
Lucky has been happy and healthy for so long now it is hard to remember what condition she was in when we first met her, and where she came from.
Since Lucky’s retirement in August, progress has been made in her care amidst challenges, including severe flooding. Lucky’s relationship with her mahout Som has improved, focusing on her health and well-being. New programs for guests enhance their experience while avoiding contact. Support from local and international contributors has been vital for her care.
